Boys Under 11's On A Roll
Sun 30th Sep 2007.  By Webmaster.

The Under 11 Girls and two Under 11 Boys teams took part in the first competition of the season at the NSC today. The girls performed well for their first time out this season so to did the Boys B team who put up a good show considering that they have not played together before. However, it was the Boys A team that did the business by staying undefeated all day and eventually beating Vikings A 2-1 in the final. It was a great team performance to build on for the rest of the season but Juan Killey really needs to work on his funky chicken goal celebration for next time!! Valkyrs Juniors Win Manx Youth Games
Tue 15th May 2007.  By Webmaster.

This year was the 6th year of the Manx Youth Games and a very successful tournament it turned out to be for Valkyrs (Western) Under 11 boys. Unlike previous years, the Games were only offered to Under 11's so only two teams were entered. The Under 11 boys team comprising of Alessandro Fappiano, Conor Caley, Luis Novo-Smith, James Kelly, Greg Kelly, Jake Killey, Juan Killey, Ben Curphey, Joe Curphey, Rory Jackson, Daniel Kneale and Juan Bellando. We unfortunately did not have enough girls to make a full team so Harlequins, Vikings and Castletown played under the Western banner.

Hot on the heels from their fantastic tournament win a few weeks before, the boys had a highly productive day being the only team to win all three group matches to take them through to the final. Throughout the day the boys produced some brilliant hockey, with excellent passing and well worked goals in that true blue Valkyrs style! In the final against the Ramsey side the boys had a difficult match which ended in a goalless draw. However disappointing this was, there was some excellent defensive work and goal keeping skills on show so Will Margot had better watch this space!

At the end of the day the Western boys had the highest number of points and were named the Manx Youth Games hockey champions for 2007. Everyone at the club has high hopes for our junior boys in the years to come and on this showing the future of the club looks very bright. Well done to everyone who took part in the Games and also throughout the season.
